Poetry of the Soul

Poetry is thoughts that breathe, and words that burn. ~Thomas Gray

Never Looking Back December 22, 2009

I don’t really know how far I’m going

I just know I’m never looking back.

All I really know is that I’m going

And I’m so tired of trying to keep track.

I’m tired of being rationally responsible.

I’m tired of living up and planned out answers.

I’m gonna go a little wild, a little crazy.

Let my hair blow backwards in the wind.

I don’t really want to know where my life’s gonna go

Just that I’ll make it in the end.

Don’t you know?

Don’t you know, Don’t you know

That this isn’t just about the snow

Don’t you know, Don’t you know

That this coldness that I’m feeling isn’t just about the weather

Don’t you know, Don’t you know

That the coldness in my bones and that’s gripping at your heart

Is because, Is because

Baby we’re breaking apart.

I feel it in between my sheets

As I try so hard to sleep

But I can’t, cuz all my dreaming is you

And I don’t know where to go

I’ve got this ache within my soul

And I don’t know, how to tell you

To put it into words

To trust my thoughts then to purge

I don’t know if I can

Feels like I’m trying so hard

Mountain Song

Filed under: poetry — laurenmichelleotheim @ 5:49 pm

The song of the mountain

The trill of the sea

I can’t imagine

You without me.

So I think to myself

Hope to myself

Wish to myself

That it will never be

‘Cause I can’t imagine

You without me.

Birds wing clouds

Bees swing trees

Fish gliss glass notes

For you and me.

Dragonfly flies

Butterfly flew

But the firefly lights up

For me and you.

(Penny shine bright

Penny shine new

But the whole dollar

Makes me and you.)

I wish for a moonlit dance

Where we can swing and sway

I’ll dance anywhere

That the breeze will blow us to

Don’t speak a single word

But let your body say:

I love you, I love you, it’s true!
