Color My Thoughts

By Lauren Otheim

An orange thought

Rises on the horizon.

Warm and fuzzy

It envelopes the entire world.

A brown idea

Floats in a cup of hot chocolate

Creamy and rich

It fills your whole body.

A blue ponderance

Drifts through the clouds

Bright and careless

It wraps around the birds.

A green musing

Sways in the wind

Living and fresh

It caresses the tree tops.

A black threat

Encroaches the sky

Bold and daring

It cracks through the air.

A red scream

Rips through your veins

Rampant and truthful

It runs through your life

The one thing never changing.

Mournful Cry

By Lauren Otheim

Bleeding thoughts,

Open Minds,

All I take is what is mine.

Tell-tale actions,

Tell what’s true,

Caught on a camera I never knew.

Broken hearts,

Upset dreams,

This is not what it seems.

Bleeding thoughts,

Open minds,

All I need is a little more time.

Help me Lord,

And I’ll get through.

All I need

Is life with you.

Glass Dream

By Lauren Otheim

I thought that I could learn to fly

But when I jumped I fell.

The life I knew is leaving me

Drawing me from my shell.

The game I played so daringly

Rang the warning bell.

This glass dream is shattering

The lie I knew so well.

I Am The Book

By Lauren Otheim

I am the author who fills the blank pages with words

I am the actress who plays out the scenes

I am the emotion that wells in my eyes

I am the laughter that bubbles inside

I am the waves that come

in

and

out

I am the scholar and learner devout

I am the daughter, the student, the teacher

I am the child becoming adult

I am the bond that holds us together

I am the one who tears us apart

I am the hurricane broiling with change

I am the musician practicing over again

I am the one who can barely begin

I am the fire alight with a passion

I am the match that quickly burns out

I am the giver, the taker, the lover

I am the crazy unrelenting tumult

I am the story you read on my face

I am the mystery you can’t seem to place

I am the leaf blown from it’s tree

I am the bird flown from it’s nest

I am the traveler in much need of rest

I am the bullet shot from a gun

I am the one…  the one…  the one

I am the one who will never be done

I am the author who writes in the book

You are the wind that ruffles the pages of my life
