Poetry of the Soul

Poetry is thoughts that breathe, and words that burn. ~Thomas Gray

child, don’t you cry

I’ve got a new song for you.

I know what you’ve been through

and I know that he’s seen through

those blank stares

but he didn’t care.

I’ve seen your pain

I’ve felt the stain

it’s made across your heart.

He left you bare and unprepared

to face the morrow on your own.

But don’t run away, don’t fall astray

stand up on shaky knees

and seize the day

make a change

run the range

you’re a fighter

don’t fall down.
